Google Ads for local services: from search to booked appointments

Plan local search campaigns around service areas, call handling, and actual bookings instead of relying on enquiry volume alone.

A local campaign works best when a nearby customer can quickly tell whether you serve their area and how soon they can reach you. Before launching, confirm the service radius, operating hours, and what the business can actually book.

Build around service and location

Group searches by what the person needs. A customer who needs a repair today has a different intent from someone comparing long-term maintenance plans. Give each group a landing page with a clear service description, availability, and a call or booking option.

Review your location settings and the locations associated with incoming enquiries. For businesses with multiple branches, send traffic to the branch that can handle the job. A single citywide page can create extra calls if the visitor cannot tell which office to contact.

Test the phone and the handoff

Call the number from a phone during operating hours and again after hours. Confirm the greeting, routing, and fallback match the promise on the page. Ask whoever answers to classify enquiries into useful outcomes, such as booked, outside service area, existing customer, or missed call.

Decide where to spend more

Report booked appointments alongside cost per enquiry and answer rate. When call volume rises but bookings do not, review caller intent, availability, and missed calls before changing bids. Review the paid campaign landing page checklist before sending a new location more traffic.
